Anand Dighe’s political journey started at the age of 18. Anand Dighe was greatly influenced by the idea of Balasaheb Thackeray, the founder of the Shiv Sena Party, and at the age of 18, he decided to join the Shiv Sena Party and join the Shiv Sena Party.
It was the time of the 70s when Anand Dighe joined the Shiv Sena party and tried to move forward by awakening Hindutva and Marathi identity.

In March 1989 there was the election of Thane Municipal Corporation in which 30 councilors of Shiv Sena were elected, for the post of Maha Paur Shiv Sena presented its claim with the help of BJP but some councilors of Shiv Sena joined the Congress party.
Voted in support Anand Dighe issued a warning saying – The traitors of the party will be punished, will they not be forgiven? Shiv Sena councilor Shridhar Khopkar died within a short period.
Based on suspicion, Anand Dighe was imprisoned under TADA law but due to lack of any basis and concrete evidence, Anand Dighe was released.
As soon as he was released from prison on bail, the supporters of Anand Dighe said that whatever Dighe did, he did it in the fight for the religion of the Shiv Sena party.
All supporters conferred the title of Dharmaveer to Anand Dighe, many Shiv Sena leaders objected to Anand Dighe’s working method, then Anand Dighe said – I do not do any of my work without the permission and consent of Balasaheb.

Anand Dighe was a great devotee and worshiper of Shiva, he used to worship Shiva regularly. A hospital – Anand Dighe Heart Care Center – has been named after Anand Dighe in Kalwa, a suburb of Thane district.
Anand Dighe was counted as a strong leader, even the police did not obstruct Anand Dighe’s work. Anand Dighe loved to play carrom board, after completing all his work, Anand Dighe used to play carrom with his colleagues in his spare time.
After Balasaheb Thackeray, only Anand Dighe had the title of Saheb. After Anand Dighe, no Shiv Sena leader was addressed with the word Saheb.
The word Saheb was not used for any other Shiv Sena leader in Thane district while Anand Dighe was alive and there was no other Saheb.
Anand Dighe and Lal Krishna Advani had worked together many times. Anand Dighe had a rapport with Anna Hazare as well.
On 13 May 2022, a film titled Dharamveer, based on the life of Anand Dighe, was released, depicting the intimate relationship between Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray and Anand Dighe.
Anandighe was the political mentor of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ek Nath Shinde. Ek Nath Shinde had learned the subtleties and tricks of politics from Anand Dighe.
After the death of Ananddighe, Eknath Shinde was made his successor. Eknath Shinde took charge of the Shiv Sena party in Thane district after Anand Dighe’s death and expanded the party’s work. Eknath was deeply influenced by his political mentor Anand Dighe.
